Depression in the elderly, especially in the 46-55 years age group, is a common mental health problem that needs attention. The objective of this study is to examine cases of depression in the elderly through a literature review. The method used in this study uses quantitative methods by means of literature review. The data obtained were collected, analyzed, and conclusions were drawn. The study showed the prevalence of depression ranged from mild to severe depression, with a significant contribution of family support to the severity of depression. The study also found that factors such as age, comorbidities, and social interactions affect the quality of life of the elderly. These findings emphasize the importance of a holistic approach in treating elderly depression, including increased family support and access to mental health services. Based on this research, it was found that depression in the elderly is influenced by physical, social, and family support factors. A holistic approach is needed to reduce the impact of depression and improve their quality of life.
